How to password-protect a shared photo album

A link alone opens for anyone who has it. A PIN adds one small step that keeps strangers out.

In short
  • Add a 4–8 digit PIN to the Room.
  • Send the PIN separately from the link.
  • Guests type it once to see the photos.
STEP 1

Add a PIN in Settings

Open the Room’s Settings and set a PIN of 4 to 8 digits. The link stays the same, but it now asks for the PIN first.

STEP 2

Send the PIN another way

Put the link in the group chat and say the PIN out loud, or send it in a separate message. A forwarded link alone won’t open the photos.

STEP 3

Change it if it spreads

If the PIN goes further than you wanted, change it in Settings. The people you give the new one to keep going, the rest stay out.

Questions

How long can the PIN be?

Between 4 and 8 digits.

Do guests need an account to use the PIN?

No. They open the link, type the PIN and see the photos.

Is a PIN the same as People I approve?

No. A PIN lets in anyone who knows it. People I approve shows you each person’s name and email before they get in.
