How to share holiday photos with family who aren’t on WhatsApp

Grandma has email, your uncle has an old phone, and none of them use the group chat. Here’s one link that works for all of them.

In short
  • Put the photos in one Room.
  • Send the link by SMS or email.
  • It opens in any browser; no app, no account.
STEP 1

Upload the holiday photos once

Make a Room, tap Add files and pick the photos and videos. They stay in original quality, so relatives can print them.

STEP 2

Send the link the way they read messages

A text message, an email, even a QR code on a printed card. Whatever they already use; no app to install.

STEP 3

Make the link easy to type

If someone would have to type the link from a printed card, print the QR code instead. They point the phone’s camera at it and they are in.

STEP 4

Let them look, or download

The photos open as a gallery in the browser. If they want copies, Download all saves everything at once.

Questions

Will it work on an old phone?

If the phone has a web browser, yes. Big videos may take a while on a slow connection.

Can relatives add their own photos?

Yes, if the Room allows uploads. They tap Add files, no account needed.

Can I keep strangers out?

Add a PIN and tell it to the family, or let in only the people you approve.
